With tarsus on the signal line

ack to biology for a moment and to delve into the actual capture process. Naturally, no creature would likely veer near a web with a natural predator obvious. But one highly camouflaged or lurking just at the edge, with tarsi on the signal line, so that it can feel the vibration as prey lights upon it would be hardly be a deterrent. Yes, deliberation and a good cover assists in sending the message that 'all is well'.

Bear in mind that the web is an effective means for the arachnid to capture prey, however, a sizeable web, with ideal placement, and architecturally sound construction can also attract other predators. Wasps, birds and other larger creatures find an effective web a literal feeding ground as well.

But I'll get into that in detail a little later. First, there are a few more radii to construct before the web is complete and then the silken shroud must be spun.
